Case number guidance
The Portal accepts the full case number with or without hyphens. D.C. publishes examples with a four-digit year, a case-type code, a six-digit sequence, and sometimes a suffix; party names use Last, First, Middle order.

D.C. Courts states that most Portal case information can be viewed anonymously without registration, but does not state a separate search fee on the current Portal guide. Filing, payment, and copy services are separate.

Most case information is anonymous, while document visibility depends on case type and access rights. Sealed, confidential, or otherwise restricted information is not public; the online display may not be the official certified record.

Case number guidance
eAccess requires the exact full case number and spacing, including leading zeroes. Confirm that the case is criminal, criminal-tax, or domestic violence because civil-side case types now use the separate D.C. Superior Court Portal.

The D.C. Superior Court eAccess user guide says no registration is required and the lookup service is free. Payments and official copies are separate workflows.

Criminal citation cases are not available. Sealed and confidential records are excluded, document images exist only for some cases, and eAccess is not the official certified court record.
